Wooden Flute Maintenance DVD
Wooden Flute Maintenance DVD
Last year, I completed a project which had been on the cards for a long time.
Apart from those concerning flute design, possibly the commonest queries I have to answer are those concerned with how to look after a wooden flute, and unfortunately the commonest repairs I do are to correct the effects of poor maintenance.
The wooden flute maintenance DVD-Rom ( it's intended to be viewed on a computer) has over two hours of video dealing with all the basic aspects of basic wooden flute maintenance. Topics covered include assembly and disassembly of the flute, cleaning, oiling, joint repair (both cork and thread) repadding, and many other techniques which the average player can hope to realise for themselves.
Here are a few samples of the material covered.
Head maintenance and cork position showing how to maintain the head of the flute and also explaining the correct positioning of the cork in the head.
Basic wood Structure This animation shows how the structure of the wood dictates the logic behind the most basic rules of maintenance.
To give you some idea of the topics covered here's a screenshot of the EasyFind page from the DVD-Rom
